Wild Cabaret, Glasgow
Sunday, 10 Jun
I turn 29 on Saturday June 9th, so what better way to celebrate a slow march to my 30s than with a show celebrating the very best in songs about lost love and the ever-present fight against the patriarchy for ecomonic independence and sexual freedom?
Join me for my Wild Cabaret debut for a song and a glass or two.
torch song (n.)
a sad or sentimental love song, typically about unrequited love.
A soulful defence of the sultry, Sad Girl branch of jazz singing from award-winning Scottish torch singer Cat Loud, who celebrates the absolute best songs about feeling your absolute worst. Accompanied by Samuel Bance on guitar, Torch Songs features classics from the heartbreak heavyweights such as Billie Holiday through to modern melancholy from the likes of Melody Gardot, all in the plush surroundings of Wild Cabaret.
After all, the course of true love never did run smooth, and all that jazz.
“Perfect night cap... Stunning!” Graham Norton
“Cat’s singing is spectacular, effortless and moving... delivered with charisma and great energy.“ The Play’s The Thing
“sharp-tongued and comedic spoken interludes with a brand of dusky torch singing which stuns the room into silence.“ The List
