Course designed and delivered by Judith Hope - puppet maker

Here’s the important info - please read before booking!

The course will be coming from the UK and the booking times listed are BST. Please be sure what time you need to log in if you are from outside the UK.

We will be focusing on using Worbla's Finest Art (the original, brown Worbla).

The course will cover how to heat and use Worbla over various structures and forms, 3D shaping (for heads, etc), fitting of rods, making joins, hands and feet, priming, painting and covering, tools required, as well as lots of other advice (questions will be welcome).

There will be 3 sessions in total (1 session per day for 3 consecutive days). Each session will last for 1 hour.

Judith will demonstrate the techniques and skills required as well as giving lots of tips and advice.

It will not be necessary to have materials in advance or to do any making during the 3 course days (although you may aim to do this if you choose - suggested materials list below).

Participants may choose to progress with making in between sessions, or to absorb the information given and to make at a later date, there are no specific requirements.

Sessions will be designed for participants to observe and learn (as well as taking notes). There will also be opportunities to ask questions.

The course is adaptable and therefore suitable for beginners as well as more experienced makers (you will be making in your own time at your own pace). Please be aware that using Worbla requires the use of a heat gun ( a basic heat gun can be purchased for £12 - £15)..

This is an adult course.

There will be 13 places on each course.

Regrettably it will not be possible to issue refunds.

More dates may be added according to demand.

If you do wish to buy materials in advance, these are the basics we will be using:

Worblas Finest Art

Heat gun

Suitable surface to heat on

Clay (natural, sculpting)

Air drying clay

Clay sculpting tools (or bamboo skewers, bradawl, spoon handle, etc - to improvise)
