What makes a good gothic novel? Where did our love of all things gothic come from? Jess Kidd, Costa Award-winner and author of the gripping Victorian detective novel Things in Jars featuring Bridie Devine, the finest female detective of her age… will join Francine Toon to talk about her stunning gothic thriller novel Pine,  the perfect novel for our haunted times. Jess and Francine will be in conversation with bestselling author Sarah Ward aka Rhiannon Ward whose debut gothic fiction novel  set between the late 19th and early 20th century The Quickening will be published in August.

How to take part

This event will be available to watch via a platform called WebinarJam. Providing you have a modern device and a solid internet connection your event experience should be positive. WebinarJam allows you to watch, and type in any questions you have for the presenters in a chat feature. You will not appear onscreen but you will see the presenters.

How to register

1. Once you have purchased your ticket on the Tickets Ignite website you will receive a confirmation email containing a WebinarJam link.

2. You MUST then click on this link and register separately for your chosen event in order to receive your unique access to the online room. If you do not do this, you will not be able to participate in the live event as each registrant uses a unique code to enter the room.

Once registered, if your access link and password does not appear in your inbox, please check your spam / notification folders. If you still do not appear to have received it please contact [email protected] detailing the event(s) you have booked.

Technical advice

WebinarJam works best when using a Google Chrome browser.

If during the live event you experience streaming issues, close down all other applications and documents on your device and politely ask others in your house to come off of the internet.

Check your battery level and plug into a power source where possible.

All of the events are in BST so if you are watching from outside the United Kingdom, please check the correct time.
