Join Artist and Designer Nicci James and try your hand at some natural dyeing from your own kitchen!

This class is an introduction in how to use food waste and store cupboard spices to experiment with natural dyes on the kitchen hob. This 90 minute session is suitable for both beginners or those who have dabbled in dyeing before. The session will include setting up your home dye bath, preparing dyes and dyeing collected fabrics/yarns/materials as well as learning several traditional shibori (japanese style tie dye folding) techniques.

**Suitable for children 12+ with adult supervision to assist as there is the need for hot water and accessiblilty to a heat source. **

The download link for the materials list will be sent out upon signing up, the class itself will be held on Zoom - invite link will be sent out in advance.

Nicci has an MA in Fashion Knitwear from the Royal College of Art and takes a playful approach to the exploration of materials and fibre science. Nicci has been teaching students of all ages over the last 4 years in Textiles, Arts & Design, Life Drawing and Illustration and especially enjoys encouraging self expression within the classroom.
