Folklub Newcastle will be a platform for the very best folk musicians to play in an intimate, friendly and exciting environment at Alphabetti Theatre.

Award-winning progressive folk sextet Pons Aelius bring their own brand of high energy yet meticulously crafted instrumental music to the table. Featuring an arsenal of instruments, from bagpipes to mandolin, the band produces a distinctive sound that breathes life into age old traditions and melds them with innovative original material.

“A colossal sound-world, drawing influences from far and wide, yet managing to unite them under one roof.” Alex Gallagher, Folk Radio UK

“…a band that is taking tradition to places it never thought to go, and in the process making invention and innovation bywords for their music.  … which results in an album that’s intricate, expansive and wholly engaging.” Tim Carroll, FolkWords

"Really good stuff" Mark Radcliffe, BBC R2 Folk Show

Alphabetti Theatre

Alphabetti Theatre is based in Newcastle Upon Tyne and was created by Ali Pritchard in 2012. We create, produce, and programme new, original work from emerging artists across the performing arts, championing work in Music, Theatre, Comedy and Poetry. We strive to make theatre that is relatable and accessible to all, and are constantly looking for new ways to challenge ourselves, physically, mentally and conceptually – we believe that by challenging ourselves we inevitably challenge the audience, creating engaging and original experiences.
