Thursday 21st November 10am-1pm

A bespoke session lead by a Deaf artist and supported by Solar Bear Theatre Company. This training is designed to improve facilitators ability to be more inclusive in their practice. The session will involve British Sign Language but you do not need to have any ability in BSL to attend. GCAN are very exited to offer this opportunity and to be working with Solar Bear to make this happen.

Solar Bear’s Jonathan Lloyd and Craig McCulloch will share their recent experiences of ‘Happiness’. This is a project about mental health and well-being, touring to four secondary schools and the Macrobert Arts Centre, co-created with deaf and hearing young people. The session will also focus on ways in which we can all make our work more welcoming and inclusive to deaf participants, and the creative opportunities this brings. The workshop will be in two parts: --Talk about what we did and how it went; sharing some of the videos made as part of the process Open a conversation / lead an exercise, on how people can make their practice more inclusive and welcoming to deaf participants – and the creative opportunities this brings! You can follow the Happiness project here:https://solarbear.org.uk/productions/happiness/
