Want to develop your skills for theatre writing?
Want just a space and a time to write with a deadline?
Want to see your new short play read by our team of actors?

Then join Alphabetti's Literary Manager, Ben Dickenson, for 5 weeks of writing workshops, with the occasional appearance of Alphabetti’s Artistic Director, Ali Pritchard.

Write Something will help you develop your own writing process, in a supportive environment. Workshops will include activities exploring character development, story construction, dialogue and monologue, and provide you with plenty of time to write.

By the end of the programme, each participant will have created a 5 minute script for up 2 actors. On week 6, you will get to see your play read by actors in front of a public audience.

Taking part in Write Something is also the best way to introduce yourself to Alphabetti Theatre. We commission scripts for our in-house productions throughout the year, and like to build relationships with writers. The better we know you, the better we can work together.

These workshops are suitable for the experienced, emerging or just picking up a pen for the first time.

Alphabetti Theatre

Alphabetti Theatre is based in Newcastle Upon Tyne and was created by Ali Pritchard in 2012. We create, produce, and programme new, original work from emerging artists across the performing arts, championing work in Music, Theatre, Comedy and Poetry. We strive to make theatre that is relatable and accessible to all, and are constantly looking for new ways to challenge ourselves, physically, mentally and conceptually – we believe that by challenging ourselves we inevitably challenge the audience, creating engaging and original experiences.
