Arcane Dance is a dance class that combines tarot and dance through a guided improvisation. No prior understanding of tarot, or dance training necessary.

Within the class we encounter: a meditative warm up, a group tarot reading, a physical warm up and an improvisation that uses the tarot reading as a score.

Through the class we experience an awareness of our bodies and their relation to the surrounding space, with the opportunity to embody thoughts and emotions generated in the tarot reading as we improvise with a focus on sensation and form. It is a chance to connect with ourselves and to others - an opportunity to listen.

About the company

Charlie Dearnley is a non-binary, transdisciplinary artist who utilises dance, storytelling, illustration and music to share work as performances, as if plotting points on an ever changing map. Charlie’s work revolves around ongoing, lived research into religion, psychology, western esotericism and entheogens, asking how our inner-realities and belief systems shape the way we live and interact. None of us dream alone. All of us dream alone.

acharacter is a name waiting to be spoken by the sun, again. It is a shifting collaboration, a changing face.

Alphabetti Theatre

Alphabetti Theatre is based in Newcastle Upon Tyne and was created by Ali Pritchard in 2012. We create, produce, and programme new, original work from emerging artists across the performing arts, championing work in Music, Theatre, Comedy and Poetry. We strive to make theatre that is relatable and accessible to all, and are constantly looking for new ways to challenge ourselves, physically, mentally and conceptually – we believe that by challenging ourselves we inevitably challenge the audience, creating engaging and original experiences.
